Description

Overview:

123Dentist is looking for a dynamic Tax Manager to join our growing organization. Reporting to the CFO, the Tax Manager who will oversee all of 123Dentist’s Canadian tax requirements, including income and commodity tax compliance, transfer pricing and tax planning related to our aggressive acquisition strategy.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Prepare Canadian tax filings for the majority of 123Dentist’s 30+ legal entities
  • Collaborate closely with EY, the Company’s Tax Advisors, to prepare tax rollover and amalgamation related filings emanating from the recent merger with Altima Dental
  • Prepare year end tax workpapers for the external audit and ensure income tax installments are both carefully planned and paid on a timely basis
  • Work closely with the accounting department to ensure processes and procedures and accounting for income tax are consistent with the Company’s intercompany business arrangements
  • Ensure GST and HST filings are accurate and that the various entities are deducting and remitting the appropriate amounts in respect of these taxes

Planning Activities:

  • Collaborate with the Corporate Development Team to identify and research tax planning opportunities for acquisition targets
  • Research tax planning opportunities for long term compensation plans
  • Evaluate the tax effect and implications of business strategies and business proposals to properly advise management
  • Other ad hoc tax-related projects as directed

Education, Credentials, Qualifications:

  • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA)

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • 5+ years of experience in tax and transfer pricing, ideally gained within the tax department of a multinational corporation and/or professional services firm
  • Completion of CICA In-Depth tax courses
  • Demonstrable experience responding to, and developing relationships with, CRA auditors
  • A broad background in transfer pricing, including policy, planning, compliance and audit
  • Ability to adapt to fast paced, changing, and growing business environment
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, strong written, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work both autonomously and in a cohesive environment with a dynamic team
  • Flexibility to meet deadlines and deliverables
